With over 12 years of experience in marketing, brand management, digital marketing and corporate communications, Dilshan is the former Head of Marketing at HNB Assurance PLC and HNB General Insurance Ltd. He has also worked in three other leading companies in the country, namely DFCC Bank, Ceylinco Life and Cargills Ceylon, holding responsible positions in the areas of marketing and management.
Dilshan has won many local and international awards for brand building and marketing excellence. He won Sri Lanka’s first Digital Marketing Award in insurance at the 5th CMO Asia Awards and was awarded the Most Influential Marketing Leader and the Most Talented Marketing Leader awards in 2014 and 2015, respectively, at the World Marketing Congress in India, organised in association with CMO Council, USA. He was also the first and only person to represent Sri Lanka as a panel member at the Asia Conference on Social Media, Social Commerce and Mobile Marketing for Insurance, organised by Asia Insurance Review, held in Singapore in 2013.
Dilshan is an active proponent of making marketing more relevant to new consumers and is enthusiastic about the novel opportunities presented by digital and social media marketing. He has undergone extensive training both locally and internationally, in Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong. While functioning as a visiting lecturer at many higher educational institutes in Sri Lanka, he is also a passionate corporate trainer and motivational speaker who has conducted many training sessions.
He graduated from University of Kelaniya with a Bachelor of Business Management, specialising in Marketing, and received his MBA from the Postgraduate Institute of Management of University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He is a Chartered Marketer, a Member and a holder of the Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK. He is also a Member of the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing and the Institute of Management, Sri Lanka.
